Our new logo

Somebody said to us, your logo exemplifies what you do, but it is not professional looking. I said, point taken sir. It was a naive attempt, I agree. And to be of any use it has to follow some protocols. So, we hired somebody to do the thinking for us and try to fit our concept of responsible tourism and community engagement in the logo.

After some work, and trying to package our philosophy into it, here is what we accepted. We think it beautifully describes what we stand for.

Just in case people wonder how this logo stands for what we do, here's an explanation:

  1. The Green curve signifies the green Himalayan region that we are connected to and work in. Technically "Locus" means a line/curve connecting points having similar attributes, in this case it's a set of locations that sit in the Green Himalayan regions of India.
  2. The Yellow curve signifies the agrarian economy driven by farming. We work with the local communities to promote responsible tourism thereby helping them with alternative means of livelihood. This helps take the load off the land. So there's the connection to the people.
  3. The Red colour is deep rooted in the culture of the region (and for that matter, Indian culture as well). The red dots relate to the vermilion which is applied to the forehead during all special occasions and prayers. During all big occasions/festivals red terracotta patches are overlaid with rice paste forming different intricate and beautiful patterns which are supposed to bring prosperity. That's the culture connection.

These 3 colours in totality embody the 3 tenets of our philosphy: Nature, People and Culture!
